What is EAP Counselling?

EAP or Employee Assistance Program is psychological mental health and wellbeing support for workers, usually subsidised by the employer.  This is usually short-term counselling and if a longer-term support is required, the employee is referred on to the appropriate professional services.  The subject issue does not have to be work-related and can be personal issues which impacting on the employee’s work performance.

Other EAP services include:

  •  Critical Incident support
  • Group De-briefing and processing after a stressful event
  • Psycho-education – such as resiliency skills, stress management, etc.
  • Mediaton – Resolution between two conflicting individuals.
  • Manager Assistance – how to support an employee affected by a mental health issue.

Enquire with your employer today about the entitlements to EAP counselling.  They are free for the employee and are confidential.

What is Hypnosis?

 

What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural and altered state of consciousness that can be induced by a
Hypnotherapist. It is a state where you are deeply relaxed and alert at the same time.
People go in and out of hypnotic states everyday.  For example, when you are daydreaming or so absorbed in an activity that you lose track of time, it can be said that
you are in a hypnotic state.

What is Clinical hypnosis?
Clinical hypnosis is process where a person receives hypnotherapy under the guidance of a qualified Hypnotherapist, with the aim of changing his/her behaviour, emotional
content and attitudes. These may include dysfunctional habits, anxiety, stress-related
illness, pain management and personal development. It should be noted that Clinical
hypnosis is different from stage hypnosis. The process and principles used are very
different. Clinical hypnosis is used as part of a treatment toward mental health and
wellbeing, whereas Stage Hypnosis is purely for entertainment value.

Myths of hypnosis:
There are many myths a bout hypnosis floating around due to the entertainment industry and media. Contrary to these myths, hypnosis is not mind control, it is not sleep, you are not made to do things or say things that you do not want and you do not surrender your power. In fact, your will-power and concentration may be strengthened during hypnosis when guided by a trained professional.

What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hy pnosis as a means of therapy. Hypnosis is a safe and
natural way to address a number of problems. Many report the experience of receiving
hypnotherapy as very relaxing and pleasant.

What can I use hypnosis for?
It can be used for medical, psychological and dental purposes. Psychological
applications include using hypnosis for anxiety control, motivation training, attitude
change, self-esteem, self-confidence, depression, eating disorders, fears and phobias,
memory training, nail biting, panic and performance anxiety, sexual dysfunction, sleep
disorders, stuttering, study problems, trauma counselling, thumb sucking and to stop
smoking.

Hypnosis can be used for just about anything because the program can be tailored to
your individual needs.
